Guidelines

EPOXY These are used where the application is indoors, away from direct sunlight and where chemical resistance is required .The coating is smooth with no orange peel. Most low gloss finishes are based on this. The curing schedule is normally 12 to15 minutes @ 190-200ºC metal temperature.

POLYESTER Good for out door use where considerable amount of sunlight is present. They have good weathering and mechanical properties and resistance to over baking. The surface finish has higher orange peel. TGIC is used as a hardener. It is used for glossy and semi glossy finishes.
The cure schedule is normally 12 to15 minutes @ 180-190ºC metal temperature.

Pure Polyester TGIC Free can be offered for countries where use of TGIC is not permitted.

Good Procedures & Practices For Producing Trouble Free Coatings

Maintain a clean & dust free atmosphere and work area. Ensure that the gun and booth are clean before commencing work.

Inspect work area, eliminate possibilities of accumulated dirt on roofing structures and other equipment from blowing or falling on work place.

Do not mix powders from two different suppliers / manufacturers.

Careful attention should be given to having clean, dry, oil free compressed air supply, at the recommended pressure.Periodically drain off water from the compressor tank and flush the airline dry.

Clean sieved reclaimed powder should be mixed in small proportionate quantities, as the work progresses, and not allowed to accumulate and collect the dirt and moisture.

Always store powder in a closed sealed container and in a cool and dry place. The powder should not be left in the equipment for long periods when not being used.

Good earthing of job and equipment are very essential.

Check that the pre-treatment chemicals are in good condition and of the correct strength. Remove the sludge accumulated at the bottom of the tanks.

Give due  attention to surface pre-treatment of piece. Ensure that the job is duly cleaned of surface contaminants, blow holes and cavities are filled and finished, de-greased, de-rusted, passivated, phosphated / chromated and duly passivated and dried. Particularly in the case of castings greater care is required for cleaning out the blow holes/ porous surfaces. After pre-treatment ensure that dirt and dust does not settle on the job, and it is coated and cured at the earliest.

Metallic powders should be used with the charging voltage set to minimum.
